Gindlin offers a credible leftwing version of the neoliberal criticism of Venezuela's approach.
But there is no guarantee that alternative energy or even environmental protection will by themselves result in reduced poverty or improved literacy, democracy or even investment in the future. In these areas, Venezuela is already committed to real progress.
