"At a glance: fires of concern," ABC, February 8, 2009.

Hundreds of firefighters are still battling the Victoria bushfires, which have so far killed at least 108 people. Here is a summary of the major fires burning throughout Victoria.

Beechworth

Fire authorities say the townships of Stanley and Eskdale are under threat from the Beechworth fire, burning in the state's north-east.

Other places including Bruarong, Dederang, Gundowring, Kancoona, Coral Bank, Glen Creek and Running Creek could also be at risk.

The CFA says the fire has crossed the Kiewa River, exposing Eskdale.

The fire front has crossed the Yackandandah Dederang Road into the Mount Big Ben area and may impact on the Kergunyah South, Kergunyah and Gundowring North communities this morning.

State duty officer Mark Glover says the blaze, which has been burning in a north-easterly direction, is still posing a challenge for fire fighters.

"It's actually running into some of those communities. We've had reports of fires in the back paddocks of houses within Kancoona and Dederang, so it is running into the communities itself," he said.
