While Canada's imminent demise has been predicted for many years, the implications of a break-up are still interesting to contemplate. What, for instance, would happen to Canada's claims of Arctic sovereignty? As fractured Canadian polities struggled to emerge and sort themselves out, would other countries with Arctic interests - like the US and Russia - move quickly to assert sovereignty over Arctic waters, seabed and resources?
